The Minister of Information Technologies and Communications held a meeting with the founder of EPAM Systems

    On January 24, 2022, the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov held an online meeting with the founder, president and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EPAM Systems Arkady Dobkin.

    During the meeting, the parties discussed the training of qualified IT personnel and the development of talents in Uzbekistan, as well as the creation of new jobs in the IT sector.

    The head of EPAM Systems has shown willingness and desire to soon begin the implementation of the opening of an online university in Uzbekistan, which will give young people a quality education and train qualified specialists in the field of information technology.

    Minister of ITC Sh. Shermatov, in turn, noted that the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications and IT Park are ready to start working together with EPAM Systems to open this university and provide comprehensive support for the successful implementation of the project.

    The Minister added that there are not enough programmers in Uzbekistan with expertise and experience at the international level, therefore, to change this situation and increase their number, it is planned to relocate foreign specialists. The latter, in turn, will train local developers and exchange experience with them for 3-5 years. The Minister also noted that he would do everything possible to make the stay of foreign specialists in Uzbekistan as comfortable as possible.

    In particular, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications will present the following relocation opportunities to foreign IT specialists:

    • support in temporary registration, registration and provision of an IT visa within the framework of being in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
    • assistance in finding and providing rental housing within the framework of being on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
    • arrangement of family members (close relatives) in educational institutions (kindergarten, school, etc.);
    • provision of network and communication facilities (mobile communication, Internet, etc.);
    • organization of tourist trips on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    Arkady Dobkin also stressed that over the next few years he intends to develop the EPAM Systems company in Uzbekistan to the largest scale. He noted that in some countries the full-fledged development of the company reached up to 10 years, and in Uzbekistan it can happen within 3-5 years, the press center of the ministry reports.
