The Central
Asian Model 2026 is organized by the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan in
cooperation with the OSCE Program Offices in Astana, Bishkek and Dushanbe and
is held at the Nordic International University.
- The OSCE
model provides young people with practical experience in the field of diplomacy
and negotiations, while deepening their understanding of the activities of
international organizations. By bringing together participants from all over
Central Asia, this initiative helps strengthen regional cooperation and
supports the involvement of young people in addressing common security
challenges," said OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Antti
Karttunen.
For five
days, participants immerse themselves in the work of the OSCE, discuss current
security challenges, the role of youth in decision-making, and study UN
Security Council Resolution 2250 "Youth, Peace and Security."
- For me, participation in the OSCE model is
an opportunity to better understand how international decisions are made and
how a diplomatic dialogue is built. As a journalist, it is especially important
for me to develop public speaking, argumentation and analytical thinking
skills, as well as to share experiences with young men and women from other
Central Asian countries," said participant Nigora Ilova.
The program
focuses on practical training formats, including interactive sessions and
diplomatic debates, as well as a full-scale simulation of the OSCE Permanent
Council, where young people act as diplomats and conduct multilateral
negotiations on a topical agenda. At the same time, special attention is paid
to issues of gender equality, inclusive participation and the role of youth in
ensuring peace and security.
The Central
Asian Model 2026 provides participants with both theoretical knowledge and
practical experience in the field of international diplomacy, contributing to
the development of negotiation skills, consensus building and constructive
multilateral dialogue.
