The
cooperation between Austria and Uzbekistan is only strengthening and developing
from year to year. These days, delegations from the Ministries of Foreign
Affairs and Internal Affairs, as well as representatives of the business
community of this country, are visiting our country and taking part in a number
of important events to further develop bilateral ties.
During this
visit, an important meeting was also held between the Federal Minister of the
Interior of Austria, Mr. Gerhard Karner, and the Minister of the Interior of
the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov.
The parties
paid special attention to the fight against transnational crime, including the
prevention of illegal migration and human trafficking, and stressed the importance
of strengthening bilateral cooperation, as well as improving the knowledge and
skills of personnel in this area.
New
initiatives were also put forward at the meeting in the field of combating
international threats such as terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking and
organized crime.
At the same
time, important issues were discussed, such as the development of safe tourism,
the elimination of existing problems in the field of migration, the exchange of
experience in combating cybercrime, the establishment of mutual cooperation
between law enforcement educational institutions of both countries and staff
training.
At the end
of the event, the heads of delegations signed a memorandum of understanding on
strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the
Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs of the
Republic of Austria.
At the
meeting, which took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, important
tasks for the development of cooperation in many of the above areas were
identified.
In
addition, representatives of the partner country were given a detailed
presentation of the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as
a presentation of modern special technical means and processes of
digitalization of the system.
