A new strong flare has occurred on the Sun

A flash of the penultimate power class (M), which became the fourth in August, was recorded on the Sun on Tuesday.

As the Report reports, this was reported to TASS at the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FSBI "IPG").

"On August 5, at 05:12 Moscow time, an M1.2 flash lasting 30 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in the group of spots 4168 (N04E03)," the institute reports.

Previously, scientists predicted increased risks of major outbreaks for the first weekend of August. Tuesday's Class M outbreak was the fourth in August.

Solar flares, depending on the X-ray power, are divided into five classes: A, B, C, M and X. The minimum class A0.0 corresponds to the radiation power in Earth orbit of 10 NW per 1 sq. m. When moving to the next letter, the power increases 10 times. Flares can be accompanied by solar plasma emissions, the clouds of which, reaching the Earth, can provoke magnetic storms.
