As part of the visit, the delegation of our country took part in a meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea in Seoul.
Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Kim Jin Pyo, Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov, Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda and Chairman of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova, as well as deputies and other political figures also took part in its work.
The purpose of this platform, created in the "5+1" format of inter-parliamentary cooperation, is to give a new impetus and content to the further strengthening of the multilateral dialogue between the countries.
The main session of the event was devoted to the topic "Prospects and priority areas of regional cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea: intensive actions for the next 30 years".
The speakers at the meeting noted that in recent years the inter-parliamentary dialogue has become important in the implementation of agreements at the highest level and the expansion of practical cooperation, along with the traditional issues on the agenda of multilateral cooperation between the Central Asian States and the Republic of Korea.
In her speech, the President of the Senate emphasized the important role of the format of cooperation "Central Asia + Korea" (since 2007), which has been working for more than 15 years to promote new initiatives and ideas to expand cooperation in the fields of investment, innovation, transport, healthcare, education and culture.
A number of proposals were also put forward during this international dialogue. In particular, they include such issues as deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation in the field of technology, innovation and green economy, attracting Korean investments and introducing new technologies in the field of alternative energy and the production of "green" hydrogen.
In the afternoon, the meeting continued its work, divided into two sessions. At the session devoted to the topic "Economic cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea", attention was paid to the issues of consolidating efforts through multilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation, including inter-parliamentary dialogue in the conditions of contradictions and conflicts that have intensified in the world today, negative trends in the world economy, unstable international trade and economic relations.
During the session, the Chairman of the Senate expressed her opinion and noted that the further development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea can become a key driver for regional cooperation, the support of the Parliament in creating all necessary conditions for the development of practical cooperation to strengthen trade, economic and investment ties is important.
It was noted that research and analysis of the current regulatory legal acts regulating transport and logistics activities is required to identify possible problems and contradictions. Attention was focused on the need to develop projects taking into account existing standards and requirements, as well as the needs of all stakeholders.
And at the session "Cooperation of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea in the field of digital transformation", the attention of the participants was paid to the issues of economic development and the success of digitalization processes in strengthening the positions of Central Asia on a global scale, the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence in various sectors of the economy.
During the session, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis put forward proposals to create a Central Asia Center in Tashkent with the support of the Republic of Korea in the field of research and development of artificial intelligence with an emphasis on conducting research and development with leading Korean universities, training qualified personnel and developing popular IT products for the needs of all countries in the region and training qualified personnel in the field of digitalization.
The meeting supported the proposal to hold a regular meeting of the interparliamentary cooperation "Central Asia - Republic of Korea" in 2024 in Ashgabat.
As a result of the event, a joint Declaration of the first meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea was adopted.
