The new Ambassador of Uzbekistan presented copies of credentials to the Jordanian Foreign Ministry

    On May 28, the new Ambassador of Uzbekistan with residence in Riyadh, Nodirjon Turgunov, presented copies of his credentials to Majid al-Qatarna, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of Jordan.

    During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of intensifying Uzbek-Jordanian relations, as well as cooperation within international organizations such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Special mention was made of the strong historical and cultural ties between the two friendly countries, the Dunyo news agency reports.

    Prospects for expanding the political dialogue were considered, including through organizing mutual visits at various levels and holding joint events, in particular, political consultations between foreign ministries and meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission.

    The parties expressed mutual interest in the development of trade and economic partnership, including the intensification of contacts between business circles and the implementation of joint investment projects. Specific proposals for the active promotion of economic diplomacy were considered.

    Special attention was paid to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties and the expansion of tourist exchanges. The need to hold Cultural Days in the capitals of Uzbekistan and Jordan as an important tool for strengthening public diplomacy was noted.

    Uzbekistan and Jordan established diplomatic relations on February 15, 1993.

    Nodirjon Turgunov arrived in Riyadh in March 2024 as the new ambassador to Saudi Arabia and in November of the same year was also accredited by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. In April 2025, he presented copies of his credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain as the first ambassador of our country concurrently.
