President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “Ayqiron-1” pumping station in Chartak district of Namangan region.

The station, located on the Great Namangan Main Canal, provides irrigation for 815 hectares of land. However, due to the wear and tear of the units, operational efficiency was low and losses were significant. About 6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were consumed annually.

As part of a public-private partnership, energy-efficient units and modern equipment have been installed here. The upgraded system makes it possible to save up to 40 percent of electricity.

The new pumps are distinguished not only by their efficiency but also by their higher water delivery capacity. This expands irrigation coverage, contributes to higher crop yields, and promotes the rational use of water resources.

More than 200 pumping stations operate in the region, 43 of which have been transferred to the management of the company Nammotors Suv Taminot for 10 years under public-private partnership principles. Investments totaling 40 billion UZS have been allocated for modernization, with the installation of pumping units whose production has been localized.

The Head of State instructed that all pumping stations in the region be modernized within two years, following the example of Ayqiron-1, and that this practice be gradually introduced in other regions of the country.

The President particularly emphasized that it is essential not only to upgrade equipment but also to ensure its proper operation and professional management. Only by relying on science and knowledge can high economic returns from modernization be achieved. This will increase agricultural yields, strengthen food security, and improve the population’s living standards.

Officials also reported that, in the future, small solar-powered pumps and drip irrigation systems are planned to be introduced for more than 750 farming households.
