Organization of Turkic States Council of Elders considered issues of expanding cooperation

    The twelfth meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States was held in Istanbul. Chairman of the Council of Elders Binali Yildirim, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Bagdad Amreyev and elders of the organization's member states from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan spoke at the opening of the meeting.

    Uzbekistan is represented at the meeting by the Chairman of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Youth, Culture and Sports Bakhtiyor Sayfullayev

    During the event, the issues of cooperation currently being held under the auspices of the Organization of Turkic States, as well as the implementation of decisions taken by the heads of State at the 8th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, which was held in Istanbul on November 12, 2021, were considered. The participants also considered the updated charter of the Council of Elders of the Turkic Council and measures to strengthen the role of elders, as well as other issues.

    The importance of effective cooperation and coordination of the work of the relevant structures of the Organization of Turkic States, the expediency of creating a "roadmap" for the development of interaction in the cultural and social spheres between the participating countries was emphasized.

    The issue of holding events within the framework of the "Year of Support for Youth Initiatives" announced by the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev in the Turkic world in 2022 was also discussed.

    Based on the results of the meeting, recommendations were developed on the issues considered, and the date of the 13th meeting of the Council of Elders was determined, which is scheduled to be held in the Kyrgyz Republic in the second half of 2022, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
