For the first time in 24 years, Uzbekistan has won its first gold medal at the World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling

    After a 24-year break, Aitjan Khalmakhanov has become our first athlete to be a World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling.

    Good news from the World Wrestling Championships taking place in Zagreb, Croatia. Aitjan Khalmakhanov, a member of Uzbekistan's Greco-Roman wrestling team, has won the gold medal.

    Competing in the -63 kg weight category, our compatriot defeated South Korea’s Chung Han-jae in the decisive match.

    This was the first gold medal won by an Uzbek athlete at a World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling in the last 24 years.

    Thus, the Uzbekistan national team managed to win a total of 1 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals in this competition.
