The distinguished guest conveyed greetings and best wishes from Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank Group, and congratulated the President of Uzbekistan on the successful organization of the International Poverty Reduction Forum “Road to Prosperity”.
The issues related to the expansion of the strategic partnership with the World Bank, primarily in the fight against poverty, the first of the Sustainable Development Goals, were discussed.
With deep satisfaction, it was noted that the highest level of practical cooperation with this global financial institution has been achieved.
The Country Program is being successfully implemented, and Uzbekistan is one of the World Bank’s leading partners in the macro-region. The project portfolio has exceeded $14 billion.
With the active support of the World Bank, a methodology for determining the poverty level has been developed. Currently, joint efforts are underway to assess poverty and equity indicators in Uzbekistan.
It was proposed to prepare a joint project within the framework of the “Road to Prosperity” program, which will include practical measures aimed at creating jobs for women and youth, modernizing social infrastructure in cities and villages, and developing tourism.
Special attention was given to the advancement of private sector projects, the development of medium-term development programs, the conduct of a population census, and other priority areas.
