Following the high-level negotiations at the Kuksaroy Residence, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov delivered statements to representatives of the media.

The President of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that this historic state visit will strengthen the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries and elevate it to new heights.

During the talks, priority areas of joint work were identified in the political, trade-economic, transport, water-energy, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

A key focus was placed on expanding trade, economic, and cooperative ties.

Over the past few years, trade turnover has nearly doubled, exceeding $1 billion. The task was set to increase it to $2 billion, primarily by expanding the range of goods and boosting mutual supplies.

A special role in this is assigned to the “Shavat – Dashoguz” border trade zone, launched today. The parties intend to apply this experience to other border areas as well, primarily in the “Alat – Farab” region.

To strengthen the region’s transport connectivity, the governments were instructed to develop proposals for expanding road, rail, and maritime transportation, as well as for the joint use of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

Particular attention was given to energy-related issues. The commitment to further deepen cooperation in the supply and transit of electricity, as well as in the implementation of joint projects in both countries, was reaffirmed.

The parties will expand cooperation in environmental protection and the rational use of water resources, including within the Central Asian region.

Another priority area is interregional cooperation. Regional forums have been successfully held in Bukhara and Turkmenabat. A third forum, involving all regions of both countries, will soon take place in Khiva.

The successfully organized Days of Turkmen Culture in Urgench and Tashkent were noted with satisfaction. An agreement was reached to regularly hold concerts and theatre tours, as well as youth, academic, and sports forums and competitions.

The parties also agreed to advance practical cooperation in healthcare and medical science.

Significant progress has been achieved in deepening regional cooperation within the framework of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan.

Confidence was expressed that the results of the seventh Consultative Meeting, held yesterday in Tashkent, will contribute to integration processes and the strengthening of unity in the region.

The importance of continuing the practice of mutual support within the United Nations and other international organizations was also emphasized.

In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their firm determination to ensure the dynamic development of cooperation and to achieve breakthrough results for the progress and prosperity of the two brotherly countries.
