On the first day of the visit, the issues on the agenda of the Council meeting were considered.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, was re-elected to the post of Chairman of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States.

Also, in preparation for the 59th plenary meeting, the agenda, rules of procedure and composition of the editorial board were approved. Information was provided on Tajikistan's chairmanship in the CIS in 2025. It was noted that Turkmenistan will assume the chairmanship next year.

The chairmen of the permanent commissions of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States were approved at the meeting. Among them is a candidate from Uzbekistan, a member of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Sh.Sharafutdinov was confirmed as the head of the Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sports.

The work plan of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly for 2026 has also been approved, according to which it is planned to hold meetings of the Council and commissions, international forums, election monitoring, as well as the implementation of youth and educational programs.

The decisions adopted at the Council meeting serve to further strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the CIS countries, coordinate lawmaking and develop integration processes in various fields.
