During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of environmental protection, sustainable development and countering modern environmental challenges. It was noted that environmental problems are global in nature and require joint efforts of States to effectively solve them, as well as preserve the environment for present and future generations.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of cooperation in the field of environmental protection was signed between the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change and the Ministry of the Environment of Japan.

The document provides for the development of cooperation based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, taking into account the goals of sustainable development, national legislation and international environmental agreements. According to the memorandum, cooperation will be carried out in a number of key areas, including combating climate change, reducing air pollution, preventing water pollution, and improving the waste management system.

It also provides for the implementation of joint capacity-building activities, including meetings, conferences, symposiums and seminars, as well as the exchange of information between specialists and experts from the two countries.

The signed document creates the basis for further expansion of the Uzbek-Japanese partnership in the environmental field and the implementation of joint projects aimed at improving the state of the environment.
