The Chairman of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan held meetings with the Chairman of the Intelligence Service, the Ministers of Defense and Internal Affairs of Afghanistan

    A meeting of the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Chairman of the State Security Service Bahodir Kurbanov with the head of the Intelligence Service of Afghanistan Abdul Haq Wasik took place in Kabul.

    Issues of ensuring peace and stability in the region and Afghanistan's becoming a full-fledged member of international relations were discussed. The participants noted the speeches of the President of Uzbekistan with a unified position on the Afghan issue at the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other reputable international forums.

    Bilateral negotiations on cooperation in such areas as agriculture, irrigation, energy, transport, trade and other areas are actively continuing between our countries.

    At the initiative of the head of our state, in order to involve Afghanistan in regional cooperation, attention is being paid to the implementation of economic and infrastructure projects in the country, as well as the continuation of humanitarian assistance.

    The meeting participants discussed issues of cooperation in the areas of maintaining the inviolability of the borders of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, further improving the entry and exit regime at border posts, combating drug trafficking and terrorism.

    On the same day, meetings were held with Afghan Defense Minister Mullah Muhammad Yakub and Interior Minister Sirojiddin Haqqani.

    These meetings contribute to the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan in the spirit of friendship and good neighborliness.
