The President of Abkhazia has resigned

    Representatives of the government and the opposition signed an agreement after negotiations, according to which the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, submits his resignation, the press service of the head of state reported.

    "In order to preserve stability and constitutional order in the country, in accordance with article 65 of the Constitution of the Republic of Abkhazia, I am resigning from the post of President of the Republic of Abkhazia," Bzhania said in a statement.

    Also, according to the agreement, citizens gathered on the territory and inside the complex of government buildings should disperse on November 19. In case of non-fulfillment of this paragraph, the President of the Republic of Albania will withdraw his resignation.

    On November 19, the National Assembly — Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia will consider the resignation of the President of Bzhania, and Vice-President Badra Gunba will become acting head of state, reports eadaily.com with reference to RIA Novosti.
