Russian VTB Bank will launch money transfers to Uzbekistan by phone number

    Russian VTB Bank will launch a pilot project on cross-border transfers of individuals through the Fast Payment System (SBP) in the fall.

    "The new service provides for instant sending of money to neighboring countries by phone number. VTB customers will also have the opportunity to transfer funds to neighboring countries by card number," said Anatoly Pechatnikov, Deputy President and Chairman of the VTB Management Board.

    VTB is launching a pilot project on cross-border transfers through the Fast Payment System. The technology will allow you to transfer funds to an account opened in partner countries by phone number. To send money, it will be enough to go to VTB Online, enter the recipient's phone number and select the bank to whose card the transfer is being made.

    Testing of the new service for cross-border transfers in VTB will start in the fall, the technology will be available to the bank's customers by the end of the year. At the first stage, it will be possible to transfer money through the SBP to the CIS countries.

    In addition, in the third quarter, VTB customers will be able to instantly transfer funds to cards of national payment systems in Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. To do this, it will be enough for the VTB Online user to specify the card number and the full name of the payee, without wasting time filling in the full account details.

    In the second quarter, VTB customers made more than 74 million transfers and payments through SBP in Russia in the amount of more than 390 billion rubles. The share of the service in the total volume of transfers between individuals was 71%, an increase of 1.5 times relative to the second half of 2021.
