The customs authorities of Uzbekistan have prevented the illegal export of more than 7.5 thousand cultural objects

On May 18, International Museum Day, the important role of museums in preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the people is celebrated. The Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, whose staff participates in the protection of cultural property and replenishment of the country's museum funds, makes a significant contribution to this process.

It is noted that ancient coins, manuscripts, antiques and other historical objects that were illegally exported from the country are regularly seized by customs authorities and transferred to museum institutions.

According to data for 2025 and the same period in 2026, 296 attempts at illegal export were prevented, during which 7,559 cultural objects with a total value of 2 billion 552 million soums were seized.

Thus, the activities of the customs authorities are aimed not only at ensuring border security, but also at preserving the historical memory and national heritage of Uzbekistan.
