The GLAA is responsible for protecting the rights of foreign workers and overseeing the activities of recruitment companies, especially in vulnerable industries such as agriculture, food processing and packaging, the Dunyo News agency reports.
The meeting was attended by Department Head Neville Bradbury and Paul Williams. The Uzbek side informed the British colleagues in detail about the large-scale reforms implemented in the country in recent years in the field of labor migration, as well as the results achieved in protecting the rights of migrants.
Of particular interest was the recent formation of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The British side called this a significant step in ensuring transparent, safe and legal migration.
The negotiations ended with an agreement to establish direct working contacts between the GLAA and the Labor Agency. In addition, the parties agreed on the visit of the delegation of the British department to Uzbekistan, which will take place in May this year. During the visit, it is planned to discuss concrete steps to develop practical cooperation.
