This is the first independent international rating of the capital after the resumption of cooperation with the agency.
The assigned rating reflects the stability of Tashkent's financial position and the stability of key macroeconomic indicators.
In its analysis, Fitch Ratings notes that the city's debt burden remains manageable, and the growth of the revenue base shows positive dynamics, which indicates a high degree of financial responsibility and management efficiency.
Tashkent against the background of the region's cities
The capital of Uzbekistan has joined the list of cities with a similar level of international rating, such as:
- Yerevan (Armenia) - BB rating - from August 2023;
- Amman (Jordan) - reflects the country's sovereign rating at BB-;
- Major cities in Turkey, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, Manisa, Mersin and Muglu - BB rating - from September 2024.
Thus, Tashkent became the first and only city in Central Asia to receive a confirmed international BB- rating, which significantly strengthens its position in the international arena and increases the investment attractiveness of the capital.
"The Fitch Ratings rating is an important step towards the further development of the city, attracting investments and implementing strategic projects aimed at improving the quality of life of its residents," the press service of the capital's khokimiyat reports.
