The head of the White House, Donald Trump, expressed the opinion that the contribution of the United States to the victory in World War II significantly exceeded the participation of other states. In this regard, he proclaimed May 8 as Victory Day in the USA.
"Many of our allies and friends celebrate May 8 as Victory Day, but we certainly did more than any other country to achieve a victorious outcome in World War II. I hereby rename May 8 to Victory Day in World War II," Trump wrote on his TruthSocial social network.
In addition, the President declared November 11 Victory Day in the First World War. He stressed that the United States had won both of these events.
Trump also noted that during these wars, none of the allies was close in strength and bravery to the American military.
