The protocol on the creation of a unified information system Türktransplant was signed on October 8 in the Azerbaijani city of Shusha by the member countries of the Organization of Turkic-speaking States (OTG).

The relevant agreement was reached within the framework of the adopted Joint Declaration following the results of the IV meeting of the Ministers of Health of the member countries and observers of the Organization.

"The purpose of creating Turktransplant is to increase accessibility to certain medical services for citizens of the geopolitical space with a population of about 160 million people," Azerbaijani Minister of Health Teymur Musayev said during a press briefing.

According to him, at the initial stage it may be a "single information center" similar to the Institute of Transplantation in Europe.

    - At the next stage, the creation of a unified database of citizens' health will be promoted. The relevant experts will come together and define these standards," the Minister added, commenting on the process of information exchange between the member countries of the OTG.

It is claimed that the protocol will facilitate the exchange of medical data on the health of patients with the development of unified digital health standards within the framework of the OTG in accordance with the national legislation of the member countries and observers of the OTG.

In short, the document will help coordinate organ donation and transplantation between countries. The initiative to create a unified information system Türktransplant was put forward last year at a meeting of the Ministers of Health of the OTG member countries in Samarkand.
