Recently, the 16th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in the capital of Iran, Tehran, which became an important stage in this direction.

During the meeting, issues of deepening ties in the agricultural sector, expanding practical cooperation and bringing mutual trade to a new level were discussed in detail.

The parties noted that in 2024, the volume of mutual trade increased by 43% compared to 2023.

During the discussions, special attention was paid not so much to trade volumes as to the formation of a stable trading system. The exchange of plant quarantine permits, the integration of information in the veterinary field, and support for exporters - all these measures serve to form stable cooperation mechanisms.

An initiative was also put forward to hold a separate meeting of the Committee on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture between the two countries. This initiative creates a new platform for the prompt resolution of pressing issues and the coordinated implementation of major initiatives in the future.

During the meeting, negotiations were held with the participation of the Iranian private sector on a number of promising projects in Uzbekistan. In particular, the issues of organizing the production of agricultural machinery in Uzbekistan, the production of 40 types of agro biotechnological products under the Nutritech brand, the creation of an exhibition and trading platform for Iranian products, the establishment of an agricultural services center based on drone technologies, including the training of pilots and dispatchers, were discussed.

The cooperation was not limited to technical and financial aspects only. Issues such as the involvement of Iranian specialists to renovate 50-100-year-old pistachio orchards in Uzbekistan, the launch of joint programs between Tashkent State Agrarian University and the Iranian Azad University, as well as the transfer of advanced Iranian experience in potato growing to Uzbekistan were also discussed.

The parties expressed confidence that these agreements would mark the beginning of a new era not only in agriculture, but also in strengthening common strategic trust between the two countries.
