At the event, the delegations were headed by: Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev from the Uzbek side, and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Zayats from the Belarusian side. The Forum was also attended by more than 300 heads of ministries, departments, industry associations, chambers of commerce and industry, regional administrations and representatives of the business communities of the two countries.
Opening the plenary session of the Forum, the speakers noted the stable dynamics of the growth of bilateral trade in recent years. At the same time, it was emphasized that there is a huge unrealized potential of the economies of the two countries, which makes it possible to realize the tasks of increasing the volume of trade interaction.
The importance of developing investment cooperation and trade relations between the regions of the two countries aimed at producing high-demand products and developing new promising markets was emphasized. Mutual visits, holding investment forums, exhibitions, visits to enterprises and business meetings play an important role in this, which will unlock the potential of the regions and increase the effectiveness of contacts between representatives of small and medium-sized businesses in the field. In this context, the speakers called on regional representatives of Uzbek and Belarusian business circles to actively and successfully cooperate, once again confirming the readiness of governments to provide comprehensive support in the implementation of joint initiatives.
The creation of a trading house, the introduction of a mechanism for preferential purchases and systematic supplies of timber and food products, the development of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, healthcare and education can be noted as promising areas of joint cooperation.
The Forum program was continued by panel sessions dedicated to discussing topical issues of practical cooperation in the fields of agriculture and the food industry, investment cooperation, sports, tourism, healthcare and youth policy.
As a result of the event, a schedule of mutual visits between the regions of the two countries, a number of bilateral agreements on the development of regional cooperation, as well as a solid package of investment agreements and trade contracts were adopted.
