Issues of
further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and France,
expanding cooperation in the energy sector and implementing promising
investment projects were discussed at the meeting.
The parties
noted that the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France and the trusting dialogue between the two heads of
state brought Uzbek-French cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
It was also
noted that the recent visit of the head of the Presidential Administration
Saida Mirziyoyeva to France and her meeting with French President Emmanuel
Macron contributed to further intensification of practical cooperation between
the two countries, strengthening ties between business circles and promoting
new investment projects. It was emphasized that contacts at the highest and
highest levels create a solid foundation for the consistent expansion of
partnership in various sectors of the economy, in particular in the energy
sector.
Today,
France is one of Uzbekistan's important partners in the energy sector. Currently,
3 major projects with a total cost of 2 billion US dollars are being
implemented with the participation of French companies. Work is also continuing
on 6 more promising projects with a total value of 1.8 billion US dollars. As a
result, the portfolio of joint energy initiatives between the two countries has
exceeded 4 billion US dollars.
The meeting
highlighted the fruitful cooperation with EDF. In particular, projects for the
construction of modern combined-cycle gas power plants with a total capacity of
more than 3.1 GW are being implemented in the Syrdarya and Surkhandarya
regions. These projects contribute to strengthening energy security, increasing
the efficiency of electricity production and providing consumers with stable
electricity supply.
The
contribution of TotalEnergies and Voltalia companies to the development of
renewable energy in Uzbekistan was also highly appreciated. They actively
participate in projects for the construction of solar and wind power plants, as
well as energy storage systems, acting as reliable partners in achieving our
country's strategic goals for the development of "green" energy.
During the
meeting, a number of French companies operating in the fields of energy and
industry presented their presentations. Modern technologies, innovative
solutions, investment opportunities, as well as proposals for the
implementation of new projects in Uzbekistan were demonstrated. The sides
exchanged views on practical elaboration of the presented initiatives and
further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the
talks, prospects for deepening cooperation in the development of modern energy
infrastructure, construction of new generating capacities, main electric
networks and energy storage systems, development of industrial and gas
transportation infrastructure, improvement of energy efficiency, introduction
of digital technologies, as well as in the field of engineering, training and
exchange of best practices were discussed.
At the end
of the meeting, the parties noted that the potential for cooperation between
Uzbekistan and France in the energy sector is much broader than the results
already achieved, and expressed their readiness to further expand investment
cooperation, attract modern technologies and implement new joint projects.
