Uzbekistan and Italy strengthen cooperation in the field of labor migration

Behzod Musayev, Head of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Uzbekistan.

During the friendly dialogue, the parties discussed the implementation and practical implementation of the memorandum of understanding on migration and mobility, signed on May 29 this year during the official visit of Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni to Uzbekistan.

"The signed memorandum is a historical document that has been extensively worked on. I am in favor of putting the agreement into practice as soon as possible. Migration is an important area, and Uzbekistan, with its rich experience in this area, can serve as an example for partners in Central Asia," said Italian Ambassador Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini.

It was also stressed that there is a high demand in Italy for qualified specialists in fields such as engineering, tourism and agriculture. The Italian side announced that a quota of 1,500 jobs for Uzbek citizens will be allocated from 2026.

It should be noted that currently there are no Uzbek citizens with illegal status in Italy, which creates a solid foundation for further effective cooperation.
