During the conversation, important initiatives aimed at further deepening cooperation in the field of education between the two countries were discussed.
The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to expand the educational opportunities of Chinese students at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. It was noted that the universities of our country are sufficiently equipped with curricula that meet international requirements, modern infrastructure, the ability to provide education in different languages, as well as distance and hybrid learning options.
During the negotiations, special attention was paid to the issue of official recognition of Uzbek diplomas in China. In particular, specific mechanisms of accreditation through the Chinese Center for Academic Exchanges (CSCSE) and the inclusion of Uzbek universities in a special list to be formed by the Chinese side were discussed.
The meeting also discussed the Rectors' Forum, which is planned to be held in Uzbekistan in the second half of 2025 in order to strengthen bilateral academic cooperation. It was noted that this conference will serve to strengthen direct ties between universities.
It was also announced the organization of a special section dedicated to education within the framework of the Uzbek-Chinese regional Forum, which will be held in Samarkand on June 1-2 this year. Academic exchange issues, joint programs and other relevant issues will be discussed with the participation of representatives of universities, relevant ministries and international organizations.
During the conversation, the positive dynamics of the ongoing work on the establishment of branches of Chinese universities in Uzbekistan was highlighted. In particular, an agreement has been reached on a branch of Xi'an Petroleum University, and negotiations are underway with the Beijing Institute of Technology. Plans were also announced to establish a scientific laboratory in Tashkent in cooperation with Tsinghua University and to open an Uzbek-Chinese Mathematical Center in Urgench in cooperation with Peking University.
During the talks, the issue of holding the First Uzbek-Chinese Vocational Education Forum, which will be held in Chongqing on June 13, 2025, was also discussed. It was proposed to create joint training centers in such priority areas as industry, the agricultural sector, digital technologies and green energy.
Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on strengthening cooperation in the field of education at the strategic level and implementing the initiatives put forward in practice.
