Uzbekistan and Russia discussed prospects for cooperation in higher education, science and innovation

    On August 28 of this year, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kongratbay Sharipov met with Mikhail Shvydkiy, Special Representative of the President of Russia for International Cultural Cooperation.

    Representatives of the delegation visited Uzbekistan to participate in the opening ceremony of the XIII Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival and the program of the International Scientific and Practical Conference on the theme "Musical culture of the peoples of the East: principles of creative harmony in the context of globalization."

    Mikhail Shvydkoi noted the high level of organization of the event and touched upon the current state of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in the field of higher education, science and innovation, as well as issues of developing cooperation between our countries in the field of exchange of teachers and students.

    In turn, Minister Kongratbay Sharipov acknowledged the high level of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation in the field of higher education, science and innovation, noting that active cooperation is carried out with the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Tashkent. It was also noted that joint education fairs have been organized, which allow applicants to choose specialized higher education institutions in Russia and serve to strengthen academic ties between the countries.

    The issue of organizing joint contests of scientific projects between the two countries was discussed at the meeting. These competitions create new opportunities to strengthen scientific cooperation between scientists and researchers from Uzbekistan and Russia, and also serve as an important platform for supporting research activities and sharing best practices.

    Following the meeting, Minister K. Sharipov, taking into account the situation in the Kursk region, in order to ensure the safety of Uzbek students, proposed to transfer their education to an online format, while expressing the readiness of the Uzbek side to cooperate with the Russian Federation on this issue.
