The initiative to join Uzbekistan to this document was put forward by the President of Uzbekistan. After almost a year of preparatory processes and negotiations, at the meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers held in Kuala Lumpur under the chairmanship of Malaysia, our country's accession to the document was approved, the Dunyo news agency reports.

It should be noted that the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia was signed on February 24, 1976 in Bali, Indonesia. It is recognized as an important document defining the basic principles of cooperation in the ASEAN region.

In turn, the ASEAN region includes 11 Southeast Asian countries with a population of about 700 million people.

Uzbekistan's accession to this treaty will open up new opportunities for our country in this region. This will contribute not only to G2G cooperation between the states, but also to the further intensification of trade, economic and investment ties, as well as to the strengthening of trust on the part of large foreign enterprises.
