On June 15, 2023, a joint communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Trinidad and Tobago was signed in New York.

On behalf of the two governments, the document was signed by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, and the Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago to the UN, Dennis Francis.

This state is located on the northeastern coast of South America, is a member of the British Commonwealth, as well as the Organization of American States.

The parties confirmed their interest in strengthening joint cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies. An agreement was reached to maintain bilateral contacts to find mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.
