Uzbekistan won a medal for the first time at the World Sumo Championship

    On September 7-8, the 25th Sumo World Championship was held in the Polish city of Krotoshyn, which was attended by about 200 athletes from 33 countries. For the first time in the history of the tournament, Uzbek sumo wrestlers entered the international arena.

    The Uzbek team consisted of Abdukodir Usmonov (up to 80 kg), Mahmudjon Maksudov (up to 115 kg), Faridakhon Tulashova (up to 73 kg) and Durdona Abdujabborova (absolute weight), the Dune news agency reports.

    A notable achievement for Uzbek sumo was the winning of the bronze medal by Durdona Abdujabborova.

    In her category, she demonstrated excellent skills, winning two victories and suffering two defeats in duels with rivals from Estonia, Poland and Ukraine. This achievement was the first for Uzbekistan at the Sumo World Championship.
