Director of the International Institute of Central Asia J. Vakhabov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Uzbekistan Konstantin Obolensky and his deputy Rachel Bosch.

The head of the diplomatic mission highly appreciated the ongoing reforms of the President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev, implemented in the field of achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth, rational use of water resources, climate change and public administration in the country.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on major projects, especially on a regional scale, that Switzerland is implementing in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. Special attention was paid to improving the energy efficiency of the economy, the introduction of "Green Economy" technologies, and the guests were informed about the research activities of the Institute.

It was noted that the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation identifies Uzbekistan as a priority country for the implementation of projects. This choice is determined by the urgent needs to improve access to highly qualified labor, ensure the safety of drinking water and sanitation in remote rural areas, as well as improve the professional level of management personnel at all levels.

At the meeting, the parties emphasized the effective cooperation of Switzerland with the Central Asian Regional Environmental Center and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea at the regional level. These joint efforts deserve recognition and underline the seriousness of the approach to solving pressing problems in these areas.

During the dialogue, the sides also exchanged views on the possibilities and prospects of cooperation between the analytical centers of the two countries. This cooperation represents the potential to open up broad horizons in the field of sharing experiences and best practices, contributing to the mutual enrichment of knowledge and scientific research.

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his willingness to promote cooperation between MICA and the Swiss scientific community.
