A citizen of Uzbekistan, H.E., contacted the Embassy of our country in Islamabad, stating that she had become a victim of human trafficking and asked for assistance in returning to her homeland.

It turned out that in 2018, she was tricked into traveling to the Pakistani city of Lahore under the pretext of employment in a beauty salon. Upon arrival, unknown persons sold the woman to a brothel, according to the Dunyo news agency.

The embassy staff promptly provided consular and legal assistance, prepared the necessary documents, including a certificate of return to Uzbekistan. During negotiations with the competent authorities of Pakistan, the diplomats managed to prevent the citizen from being held accountable for violating migration rules. An exception was made for her - the deportation was executed without fines and fees.

The Embassy, together with the Migration Agency, purchased an air ticket, and the woman returned to Uzbekistan on an Islamabad - Tashkent flight operated by Uzbekistan Airways.

Providing protection and support to citizens abroad remains one of the priorities of Uzbekistan's foreign policy.
