A trilateral agreement on the development of the feasibility study of the Trans-Afghan railway Uzbekistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan was signed in Kabul

    On July 17, 2025, the first trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan was held in Kabul. The meeting was attended by Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.

    During the meeting, a Trilateral framework agreement was signed on the development of a feasibility study for the Trans-Afghan Railway project, which will connect Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The meeting participants emphasized the strategic importance of this transport corridor for the entire Eurasian region.

    The project is designed to significantly increase the volume of regional trade, contribute to the economic recovery of Afghanistan, and provide access to southern seaports and international markets for Central Asian countries.

    The parties confirmed their desire to strengthen trade and economic ties and increase cooperation in such areas as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textile industry and construction.

    Special attention was paid to expanding the potential of the International Trade Center in Termez.
