According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, during the meeting, the essence and significance of the constitutional reform being carried out in Uzbekistan were explained in detail to the parliamentarians. The British MPs were also informed about the progress of large-scale transformations in the country, the positive results achieved in building a welfare state and liberalizing the economy, as well as about the priorities of national development for the near and medium term.
The members of the parliament highly appreciated the course of democratic transformations in the country, the commitment of the Government of Uzbekistan to the priority of ensuring human rights, freedoms and interests in the implementation of reforms, IA Dune reports.
An open dialogue was held on the further expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom, including through inter-parliamentary ties. The British parliamentarians expressed their readiness to actively promote the development of bilateral cooperation and make it practical.
The parliamentarians were also able to get acquainted with the elements of the cultural and historical heritage of the Uzbek people, the tradition of celebrating Navruz, as well as taste dishes of national cuisine.
