The international conference "Islam - the religion of Peace and Goodness" opened in Tashkent today. The forum is attended by more than 70 leaders of international organizations, religious figures, muftis and renowned scientists from 22 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and France.

The conference began with a welcoming speech by representatives of Uzbekistan, who stressed the importance of preserving the Islamic heritage and strengthening the spirit of tolerance in the context of modern globalization. Special emphasis was placed on the role of Islamic scholars such as Al-Khorezmi and Imam Bukhari in the development of world knowledge and spiritual values, the Dune news agency reports.

The event will continue with panel discussions on three key topics: preserving the traditions of Hanafi and Maturid teachings; finding a balance between religion and secularism; and practical measures to counter extremism.

The forum participants express their readiness for active cooperation to strengthen peace and mutual understanding, and the results of the conference will be summed up on October 16 in the ancient city of Khiva, where it is planned to adopt a final declaration.
