    A forum of young parliamentarians was held in Tashkent: issues of international cooperation and sustainable development were discussed

    A forum of young parliamentarians was held in Tashkent as part of the 150th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union, during which issues of international cooperation and sustainable development were discussed.

    This important forum was dedicated to discussing issues of increasing the activity of young politicians on a global scale, developing inter-parliamentary cooperation and eliminating factors threatening sustainable development.

    Within the framework of the forum, a special discussion of the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development was held on the topic "Parliamentary strategies aimed at reducing the long-term impact of conflicts, including armed ones, on sustainable development."

    The role of parliaments in ensuring peace and stability in crisis regions, the effectiveness of international cooperation and new initiatives were also discussed.

    One of the important events of the forum was the election of a new president of the Bureau of Young Parliamentarians. Following the meeting of the Bureau, a new head was introduced to the forum participants.

    In turn, the youth leader will work to increase the activity of young people in the international parliamentary system, promote their initiatives and protect their interests at the global level.

    In preparation for the 151st Assembly, which will be held in October 2025, young parliamentarians will discuss the issues on the agenda of the Standing Committees from a youth perspective.

    The focus will be on identifying victims of illegal intercountry adoption and taking measures to protect them from this practice. The forum participants will have the opportunity to express their opinions on this issue and develop recommendations.

    Other topical issues were also discussed during the meeting of the young parliamentarians.

    It should be noted that in accordance with the strategic initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at creating broad opportunities for young people to actively promote their interests in the political arena and support their ideas and initiatives, in 2020, taking into account the prospects of national parliamentarism, Youth parliaments were established under the chambers of the Oliy Majlis.

    In addition, according to the results of last year's elections, the number of deputies of local councils of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the age of 30 increased 3.5 times and reached 266 people.

    This is aimed at increasing the political and legal literacy and awareness of young people, social activism, protecting their rights and legitimate interests, involving young people in the legislative process and supporting their initiatives.

    During the event, new initiatives were put forward aimed at increasing youth participation in political processes, further strengthening their voice in the international arena, and enhancing the role of young leaders.
