Delivering a welcoming speech at the event, the head of the Uzbek delegation, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev, emphasized the importance of establishing mutually beneficial interregional partnership and sustainable business ties based on joint experience and trust for the development of the economies of the CIS countries.
Over the past five years, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries has almost doubled and amounted to over $23 billion by the end of 2024. 5.5 thousand companies with the participation of the capital of the Commonwealth countries are successfully operating in the regions of Uzbekistan.
Major investment and infrastructure projects are being jointly implemented in the regions, cities and regions of the CIS countries.
In order to stimulate intraregional trade in the CIS countries, there are over 130 special economic zones, as well as border trade zones.
During the period of partnership within the CIS, the participating countries have signed about 6,000 bilateral documents of interregional importance.
The speaker noted Uzbekistan's firm commitment to continue the processes of deep transformation in the economy, the formation of a favorable investment and business environment, the creation of high added value in industries, as well as the expansion of foreign economic relations with partner countries.
Taking into account global processes in world trade, a number of measures have been proposed to stimulate trade relations in the Commonwealth, including making full use of the potential of the CIS Free Trade Area Agreement, removing existing barriers to the movement of goods and services, digitalizing trade procedures and cargo transportation, and building up cooperation and import substitution projects with active connectivity. regions.
The forum was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Yuri Shuleyko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Hokim Kholikzoda, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Janelle Kushukova, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Choro Seyitov and heads of regions of the Commonwealth countries.
According to the business program, negotiations and meetings in the B2B format were organized, where participants were able to discuss specific areas and promising initiatives for increasing bilateral cooperation, and replenish business books with new contacts.
As a result of the Forum, more than 10 documents were signed on the establishment of friendly relations, trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and roadmaps for further deepening and expanding cooperation between the regions of the CIS member states.
