The Grand Slam judo tournament starts in Tashkent

    Today, on March 1, the Grand Slam judo tournament starts in Tashkent. Yesterday, on the eve of the competition, the draw ceremony took place.

    The event was attended by Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov, Secretary General of the NOC Oybek Kasimov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, head of the country's Judo Federation Azizjon Kamilov, as well as officials of the International Judo Federation (IJF).

    The first speaker was Vlad Marinescu, Director General of the IJF, noting that this year our country has adequately prepared for the Grand Slam. Also, Adham Ikramov and Oybek Kasimov spoke about the preparations for this tournament, about the expected results and measures aimed at popularizing judo in the country.

    495 judokas from 68 countries of the world will compete for medals. The qualifying stage starts at 09:00, and the final block starts at 17:00. Judo performances will be held in the capital's Humo Arena complex.
