Work has begun in Uzbekistan to prepare for the Asian Women's Forum

    On April 2 of this year, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the Asian Women's Forum. Members of the Organizing Committee, senators, heads of relevant ministries and departments, representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations took part in its work.

    The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva.

    It should be noted that today the countries with the largest share in the global economy are located precisely in the Asian region, achievements in the field of health, information technology, economics and many other areas fall to the share of these countries.

    From this point of view, in order to realize the creative potential of women leaders of the countries of the region, exchange experience in further expanding their participation in public and public administration, the economy, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly put forward an initiative to hold the Asian Women's Forum in Uzbekistan in 2024.

    To this end, it was decided to hold this forum jointly with the UN Women organization on May 13-14 this year in the city of Samarkand.

    The forum will discuss issues of women's participation in science, education, innovation and the use of digital technologies, poverty reduction through the expansion of economic opportunities for women in the modern global economy, their involvement in entrepreneurship, leadership and innovation.

    In addition, the issue of women's participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will be considered. Special attention will be paid to the elimination of all forms of violence, ensuring equal and safe working conditions for women, and eliminating discrimination and violence in the workplace.

    In addition, issues of practical implementation of the decisions of the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, the role of parliaments in promoting economic opportunities for women's participation in business and society, as well as the role of non-governmental organizations in the region in protecting the rights and interests of women will be considered.

    During the meeting, organizational aspects related to the event, the agenda of the forum, its content and issues of organizing bilateral meetings with delegations of foreign countries were discussed.

    The tasks of all departments and organizations for the forum have been defined.
