According to the decree, the Republican Radioactive Waste Storage Center (Center) is being created on the basis of the Republican Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility at the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
The Center is a single state institution providing services for transportation by special vehicles, acceptance, sorting and long-term safe storage of radioactive waste in the republic.
In particular, the main objectives of the Center are defined:
· sorting, processing and long-term storage of radioactive waste generated during the handling of radioactive sources produced in the republic or imported into it, expired or out of order;
· development of innovative methods of radioactive waste management and scientific research in this field;
· the introduction of digitalization and information technologies in the field, as well as ensuring the exchange of information with relevant government agencies.
