The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan announced that a new strain of "omicron" has been identified in our country for the first time. It was detected on January 7 of this year in a foreign citizen who arrived in our country.

At the next meeting of the Republican Special Commission, the issue of resolute continuation of measures against the coronavirus pandemic was discussed in detail. In this regard, precautions will be strengthened.

This was also discussed at the next meeting of the Republican Special Commission. It was noted that the incidence of coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan is growing, and it is necessary to continue taking measures against the spread of this disease.

According to a statement published by the World Health Organization on the spread of a new strain of coronavirus infection, omicron was first detected in Africa, then in Europe and Asia.

As of December 2021, a number of additional quarantine restrictions have been introduced in the USA, Denmark, South Korea, Great Britain, Russia, Israel, the Netherlands, France, Japan, and India due to the spread of a new strain of the omicron coronavirus and the deterioration of the epidemiological situation.

Based on this, the decision of the Republican Special Commission will strengthen control over the wearing of masks in public places, compliance with social distance and personal hygiene rules.

Full vaccination of the population and revaccination will be accelerated.

Heads of ministries and departments, regardless of their organizational form, as well as employees in all organizations will be allowed to work after vaccination. Strict measures will be taken against the heads of organizations violating this procedure in accordance with the established legislation.

The Ministry of Health, the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan and the Committee on Religious Affairs have ordered our citizens to be tested for coronavirus on the way back from Umrah during the pilgrimage.

During the holidays, work will be intensified to vaccinate university students against coronavirus infection. The heads of higher educational institutions will be personally responsible for this activity.

Such measures have been taken to ensure the health of the population under quarantine restrictions and to maintain the stability of the epidemiological situation in the country.
