    On July 26, 2022, on the sidelines of the International Conference on "Afghanistan: Security and Economic Development", Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received the founder and Chairman of the Institute of Central Asia and the Caucasus at the US Foreign Policy Council Frederick Starr.

    The American expert highly appreciated the importance of the international conference on Afghanistan initiated by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which brought together more than 190 foreign delegations from around the world.

    It was emphasized that the Tashkent forum, being a relevant and timely event, is focused on issues of strengthening peace, stability and economic reconstruction of the state in the interests of the entire Afghan people, its neighbors and the world community.

    The International Conference was another evidence of the recognition by the international community of the successes of the updated regional course of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Thanks to the activity and practical efforts of Uzbek diplomacy in recent years, a completely new political atmosphere has been formed in the region, trade turnover indicators are growing, contacts at all levels are expanding, and the interconnectedness between Central and South Asia is strengthening.

    During the meeting, specific proposals were considered to enhance cooperation between research institutes and analytical institutions of Uzbekistan and the United States in areas of mutual interest, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
