WHO provides humanitarian aid to Uzbekistan worth more than $4 million

    A humanitarian cargo arrived in Uzbekistan, purchased by WHO headquarters through the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, totaling more than $4 million and weighing about 85 tons.

    The dispatch of the humanitarian cargo was carried out with the assistance of the WHO office in Uzbekistan in two stages. The first batch arrived in Tashkent on 8 July and included 619,400 face shields and 2,176,000 surgical masks. The second batch was delivered to the capital on July 17. It consisted of personal protective equipment, including safety glasses (95,200 pieces), protective gowns (178,000 pieces), surgical masks (12,000 pieces), and KN95 respiratory masks (1,064,000 pieces).
    The cargo is intended for transfer to the Agency for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
