The World Bank will conduct an institutional assessment of the Ministry of Economy and Finance

    The other day, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Gulnora Rakhimova and representatives of the World Bank met.

    It was attended by Chairman of the Treasury Service Committee Murod Atajanov, Director of the Information Technology Center Iskandar Yuldashev, Director of the Information Technology Development Department Numonjon Juraev and First Deputy Director of the Public Procurement Policy Department Abdusattor Akhmedov.

    The World Bank was represented by Senior Public Sector Specialist Shiho Nagaki, Senior Public Finance Expert Pierre Messali, and Financial Management Specialist Nurgul Tatybekova.

    Representatives of the World Bank were interested in receiving detailed information on structural reforms after the merger of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction and the Ministry of Finance to conduct an institutional assessment of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

    Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Gulnora Rakhimova informed the guests about the ongoing reforms in the country, emphasizing the role of the World Bank in implementing these reforms and briefly told about the internal organization of the Ministry, staffing and organizational culture.

    In turn, Numonjon Juraev and Iskandar Yuldashev spoke about the Ministry's information products in the field of fiscal policy and the organization of budget operations. To date, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has more than 30 platforms and software developed to simplify budget processes. The expansion of the integration of these platforms with databases of other ministries and departments has created a number of amenities for both service users and employees of budget organizations.

    During the conversation, Murodbek Atajanov elaborated on the automated processes of treasury operations and the work started on the introduction of "green" procurement in Uzbekistan. In addition, extensive work is currently underway to improve treasury operations by introducing artificial intelligence to control financial transactions.

    The participants also discussed the current state and ongoing reforms in the field of public procurement. In particular, the guests were informed about the joint work with the World Bank on improving the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of public procurement in order to increase transparency and competition.

    At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold meetings for closer cooperation in the above-mentioned areas.
