During the conversation, topical issues of Uzbekistan's cooperation with UNHCR were discussed.
- Fozilov informed the UNHCR delegation about the systematic work carried out in Uzbekistan to ensure the protection of human rights and freedoms, the harmonization of national legislation with international standards in this area, the effective fulfillment of obligations, as well as the intensification of cooperation with international institutions.
- Shodder highly appreciated Uzbekistan's experience in regulating relations in the field of citizenship, including the adoption of a new version of the Law on Citizenship. It was noted that the republic's practical measures in this direction fit seamlessly into global efforts to reduce statelessness around the world.
An exchange of views took place on the situation in Afghanistan. H. Shodder expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for the feasible assistance of the UNHCR in the delivery of humanitarian supplies to this country.
