We are talking about an M-series humanoid who will
become a teaching assistant. The robot is as close as possible to the human
form: it is able to move its arms and other limbs, but it will not be able to
move around the classroom on its own, Mir24 reports.
An identification system will be used to interact with
students, thanks to which the robot will be able to recognize students and
address them individually. At the same time, he will speak with an accent
typical of the western part of New York.
According to media reports, the cost of such a robot
is about 57 thousand dollars, which is lower than the average annual salary of
a teacher in New York.
At the same time, representatives of the school
district emphasize that the introduction of humanoids does not provide for the
replacement of teachers. Robots will be used exclusively as an additional tool
to help organize the learning process.
Testing of the new technology is planned to begin in
grades 11 and 12.
