The main topic of the meeting was the expansion of transport cooperation and increasing the possibilities of air communication between the two countries.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed:
increase the number of agreed flights to 130 per week;
expand the list of Chinese cities where Uzbek airlines will be able to fly;
to increase the number of Uzbek air carriers authorized to operate flights to China to eight companies.
The agreement document has been signed and will enter into force after the completion of internal approval procedures in China.
For reference: The first conference of the C5+1 Working Group was held in Xi'an in June 2024. Then it was decided to increase the number of airlines allowed to operate regular flights from 3 to 6 on each side, expand the number of destinations in China for Uzbek carriers from 9 to 12, and raise the limit of scheduled flights from each country from 30 to 100 per week. In addition, the rights of the "fifth freedom of the air" were granted: 21 cargo flights and 7 passenger flights per week through selected cities. Uzbek airlines have also been given the opportunity to operate flights to the airports of Hainan Island (Haikou, Sanya, Xunhai-Boao) without restrictions.
Thanks to the agreements reached, the number of airlines and routes has increased significantly. In addition to Uzbekistan Airways, China Southern Airlines and Loong Air, such carriers as Centrum Air, Qanot Sharq, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, YTO Airlines and North Western Cargo International began to operate flights.
As a result, passenger flights increased from 19 to 61 per week, and the number of cargo and transit flights increased from 72 to 128. Direct flights are now available not only from Tashkent, but also from Samarkand and Ferghana. New destinations have been opened for passengers in China: Beijing, Urumqi, Xi'an, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Sanya and Haikou.
Today, 61 passengers and more than 120 cargo and transit flights are operated weekly between Uzbekistan and China.
