The theme of the session is "A common agenda for promoting sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region".
At the beginning of the 78th session, President of the UN General Assembly Abdullah Shahid, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Collen Vixen Kelapile, Executive Secretary of ESCAP Armida Alisjabana and Prime Minister of Thailand Prayuth Chan-Ocha addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
The Uzbek delegation at the session is headed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, the news agency "Dunyo" reports.
In his online speech, the head of the delegation informed about the implementation of the large-scale reform strategy of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the priorities and main directions of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, which largely correspond to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In order to achieve the UN SDGs in cooperation with the Asia-Pacific countries, the Uzbek side proposed cooperation in priority areas.
The 78th ESCAP session will end on 27 May.
