Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation held talks with the head of the National Security Service of Uzbekistan

    Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin visited Uzbekistan, where he held talks with the head of the country's State Security Service Abdusalom Azizov. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press bureau of the SVR.

    During the talks held in Tashkent, the main issues of interaction between the two special services were considered, prospects and priorities of joint work for the coming period were discussed. The participants of the meeting stressed the constructive and mutually beneficial nature of cooperation between the departments, which is an important component of the package of measures to protect the national interests of Russia and Uzbekistan.

    The interlocutors noted "the coincidence of assessments of the development of the situation in Central Asia, as well as on a number of issues directly affecting the security of the two states." "Special attention is paid to coordinated activities in the field of combating international terrorism, the exchange of intelligence information on a wide range of regional and international issues, as well as strengthening joint capacity to counter modern threats and challenges," the press bureau of the SVR notes.

    With. Naryshkin and A. Azizov spoke in favor of continuing a regular and substantive dialogue in order to effectively solve the tasks facing friendly special services. As a result of the event, specific decisions were made on the further development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
