Relations between Uzbekistan and Karelia are strengthening

    On October 23, Dilshod Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, met with Artur Parafenchikov, Head of the Republic of Karelia.

    The Republic of Karelia is located in the north-west of the Russian Federation. The economy of the Republic of Karelia relies heavily on the export of building materials and natural resources, including forest products such as wood, pulp and paper. Karelia's imports include industrial equipment, technologies and consumer goods, which is related to the needs of local industry and a limited production base.

    The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia for Economic Affairs D. Rodionov, Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia O. Ermolaev, President of the Union "Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Karelia" A. Lysenkovsky and Director General of the Fund "Export Support Center of the Republic of Karelia" V. Svirovsky.

    During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues aimed at establishing cooperation between the business circles of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Karelia. The main attention was paid to joint initiatives in the fields of tourism, construction, mining and food industry.

    In addition, the participants of the meeting discussed the issues of organizing the visit of a delegation of business circles of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Karelia by the end of 2024.

    Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Union "Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Karelia", which was an important step in the development of partnership relations and opens up new prospects for joint projects.
